Alcova

History

The “Alcova” room takes its name from an architectural element inherited from Arab architecture (al-qubba), often used in ancient Sicilian residences. The alcova was a space separated from the main room by railings or curtains and housed the bed, offering a sense of intimacy and protection. The layout of the “Alcova” room at SIQU is inspired by this element, now vanished in modern architecture.

Modern Design

The “Alcova” room unfolds in a single open space: a spacious living area furnished with antique pieces and modern-design armchairs. The sleeping area, tucked away in the romantic alcove, is flanked by a bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe with a shower. Located on the first floor of the residence, “L’Alcova” overlooks the rooftops of the surrounding houses through a large window.
